Posted in

There are so many reasons to choose organic skincare, but with the recent boom in the organic trend, there are also many reasons to be informed about how to maintain an organic skin care routines. While there are many fabulous options for organic skincare (like the ones found here) on the market to day, there are also many brands that are capitalizing off of the “natural” and “organic” buzzwords, without fulfilling the actually guidelines of truly organic products. Today I want to share 5 tips for maintain an organic skin care routine.

Tip #1 – Don’t Trust Buzzwords: Of course this is going to be number one. As I mentioned before, many companies are able to throw in the terms natural, or organic, because their product is formulated with some natural and organic products. It is important to note that just because a product contains some natural ingredients does not make them organic. To ensure you are getting a truly organic product, look for the USDA Certified Organic seal. If your product has this seal, you can rest assured that it has met the standards of the United States Department of Agriculture, which includes so much more than just organic ingredients.

Tip #2 – Simplify Your Routine: Unless you are still looking for the right product for your skin, there is no need to have multiple cleansers, moisturizers, serums, or more. If you have found a product you love, stick to it! After all, odds are you will come back to your favorite anyways. If you are in the market for an effective and organic serum, check this page.

Tip #3 – Don’t be Afraid to Go Super Natural: You’d be surprised how fabulous the simple things can be. An example? Coconut Oil! Yes, it is totally possible to get beautiful benefits from super natural ingredients, oils in particular. If you do decide to go this route, don’t be afraid to invest. Even the highest quality coconut oil and olive oil will likely cost less than a department store moisturizer; so don’t grab the cheapest option on the shelf! Do some research and go for quality over quantity.

Tip #4 – Ditch Your Shaving Cream: If you have found a truly organic shaving cream option, by all means, please leave it in the comments below! If you are tired of reaching for your typical drugstore shaving cream (which is typically loaded with non organic compounds), try olive oil! Yes, olive oil has been receiving quite a bit of hype recently for it’s ability to replace shave cream. What is extra wonderful about this swap is note only is it cheaper over time, but it leaves your legs looking and feeling hydrated and healthier.

Tip #5 – Don’t Forget to Test Strip: I cannot stress this enough, never skip doing a test strip. Even 100% organic products can cause a negative reaction. After all, everyone’s skin is different, and everyone’s sensitivity level will vary. No matter how pure a product, be sure to apply a test strip along your jaw line (where you can easily see the skin) 48 hours before you plan on using it all over your face. It is always better to have a little red strip than a fully irritated face!
