5 Easy and Effective Ways to Look Red-Carpet-Ready on Prom Night

Posted in

When you look back on your high school days and all of the things that happened during that time, we’re willing to bet some pretty good money that one of your best memories is going to be your prom night. That’s because it’s a time when you can dress up, hang out with your friends and enjoy dancing for hours on end. And since we’re pretty sure that you’re going to want to take plenty of pictures throughout the evening, it’s essential that you look red-carpet-ready the entire night.

Red-Carpet-Ready on Prom NightThat’s why we wanted to take out just a few minutes to share with you some easy and effective ways to look absolutely amazing at your prom below:

Choose a great bra. Something that can make or break a prom look is not just the dress that you put on but the kind of bra that you wear underneath it. That’s why before you purchase your prom dress, it’s a good idea to go to Victoria’s Secret or the lingerie department of a department store like Dillard’s in order to get a formal bra fitting. Our recommendation is that you purchase two of them: one with straps and a strapless bra as well, just in case you end up choosing a strapless gown. Also, make sure to have the bra on as you’re trying dresses on so that you can be confident that it suits your selections perfectly.

Make sure your hair and make-up “match”. Your dress is not the only thing that will make a really big statement that night. So will your hair and your make-up. That’s why you need to make sure that your hair and make-up complement the style of your dress. If you’re going to use a professional hair stylist and make-up artist, take your dress along to your appointment so that they can get a feel for the kind of look that will best complement you.

Pick the right accessories. A big part of the fun that comes with putting together your prom look is adding some accessories. The important thing is select the kind that will enhance your dress rather than overwhelm it. This means that if you are wearing a simple gown, don’t be afraid to take some risks with some dangle earrings and a bangle bracelet. However, if your dress has a lot more embellishments on it, select jewelry pieces that are smaller and modern.

Take a clutch. Say that you’ve selected an amazing dress from  Night Moves by Allure  , jewelry from your favorite designer store and some show-stopping shoes. All that you need to complete your prom dress look is a satin, silk or sequin clutch. It’s another great accessory and a truly feminine way to carry things that you may need throughout the night such as your lipstick, some translucent powder and also your cell phone.

Be comfortable. It’s not going to be a lot of fun if you look stunning but you have to sit the entire night because your dress feels too tight, you’re worried that your hair is going to fall or your feet hurt. So don’t forget that another important prom fashion rule is that you are comfortable. When you’re trying on dresses, move around in the dressing room. Talk to your hair stylist about a hairdo that will stay beautiful throughout the evening and got some cushion inserts for your feet. That should keep you feeling as good as you look the entire time!
